Interesting Reading

Just thought all you "arm-chair activists" would be interested to read our good governor's project list for the fiscal year 2002 and to find out who are the recipients of all our state tax money. You will note that on page 7 is an item that says Rocky Gap will be receiving $1,737,000 for a new shower building.

In light of the amount of funds we won't be receiving to educate the children of Allegany County, I sure hope our kids will be able to read the signs on the shower doors and toilet stalls! If this isn't a case of "money down the drain. . ."

The way I read it, except for a 4 million dollar upgrade to the Cumberland Water Plant, the allocation of almost 2 million for the bathroom for Rocky Gap is the largest single allotment of money specifically targeted for Allegany County. I also note that the Western Maryland Region will be receiving $5,652,000 in Program Open Space Allocations. I wonder where that money will go. . .

For some very interesting reading, log on at http://www.dbm.state.md.us/html/2002projlst.pdf.

You will need to have Adobe Reader to see it. If you don't have that program, email me back and I'll copy and paste it into an email for you.
